Standard II
Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards.
Reflection:
Designing and developing technological assessments allows for teachers to assess easier than ever before. These assessments become easier to grade, easier to save, and easier for students to access with internet access. By creating a Weebly Quiz, I was able to formatively assess my group member’s knowledge. This will come in handy when I want to casually assess my students’ knowledge formatively in my future classes. Additionally, I was able to create a PDF format version of a Big 6 Test using EasyTestMaker. This tool allowed me to easily create a test regarding students’ knowledge of the BIG 6 Research model that I can save and print out. Additionally, by creating an online Oral Presentation Rubric using RubriStar for evaluation, I was able to use digital technology to decide how I will assess student learning of speaking skills. Additionally, the Podcast created through Vocaroo allowed students a technology enriched learning environment to pursue learning. By recording myself giving a lecture, I am able to provide a resource for auditory learners to access the material electronically. The YouTube Movie Story allowed me to reach more visually stimulated learners electronically and allowed me to learn a great deal about Windows Movie Maker. Google Spreadsheets also allowed me to keep track of formative and summative assessment grades.
Future Learning Goals:
In the future, I hope to continue to find inventive ways to assess my students. I wish to use technology to make the assessment process smoother for my students and for me; and, by staying up to date with technological trends in assessment, I hope to accomplish this.
