Standard I
I. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
Reflection:
By inspiring student learning and creativity, we teachers can advance learning. Students need innovation to inspire them when learning, or instruction may become dull or boring. This generation is constantly engaged in technology; therefore, it is important to ensure that they remain engaged when learning. We must mold our instruction to inspire this technology savy generation. Additionally, by making connections to the real world, teachers can make knowledge more applicable. One of the tools that I used that supported this goal was ThingLink. ThingLink allows for students and/or teachers to collaborate by adding links to a relevant picture. Digital tools such as ThingLink allow students to learn more conveniently than ever before. Additionally, another tool we utilized that allowed collaboration was Google Drive. By creating slides via Google Presentation & documents via Google Doc, my group members and I were allowed to collaborate and connect our ideas. Before the rise of technology, it was difficult to allow students to collaborate, it was difficult for students to share creative pieces, and it was difficult to model creative thinking. With the rise of technology, we teachers are able to engage students better than ever before. I am grateful for the technological advances of this generation beaus they allow students to explore avenues of creativity that were never before available. Also, through creating a class forum through Weebly, I was able to allow for students to reflect on their learning by using technology.
Future Learning Goal:
In the future, I hope to find novel ways to engage my students. As technology progresses, I will continue to find innovative tools like, ThingLink, Google Presentation, Forums through Weebly, and Google Docs to engage my students in creative and inspiring ways.
Artifacts:
